Raleigh Studios Update
February 16, 2010
Board members recently held another periodic meeting with management representatives from Raleigh Studios, our neighbor to the east. In an effort to keep studio noise to a minimum, here are concrete steps Raleigh is taking in order to be a good neighbor:
- Trash pickup time moved to 8:00 am
- Motorcycle parking relocated away from West Drive (the studio street nearest to Manhattan Village)
- Studio truck trailer parked on West Drive where it meets the road between the two adjacent studio entrances)
- Water-filled barriers placed at north and south ends of West Drive between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am
- "No Idling" signs placed prominently to instruct drivers
- Manhole covers cushioned so as not to make noise when driven over
- Considering planting additional foliage on one or both sides of the fence to assist in attenuating noise
- Considering adding a new guard to be stationed on West Drive.
Of course it isn't Raleigh itself, which only manages the studios, but the studio's tenants and the service providers they employ who actually cause the noise that has troubled adjacent homeowners. The problem occurs mainly where other studio streets intersect West Drive, specifically between Stages 16 and 17, and north of Stage 18 (close to the golf course).
Manhattan Village owners located adjacent to the studios may contact the Manhattan Village management office to obtain the phone number of the main studio guard station in order to report noise issues as they happen, when they are easiest to correct. Please be courteous when doing so, else our ability to maintain cooperative relations with the studios is lessened. Of course you may contact the City if the studio or its tenants are unresponsive. - D. White
